Description

Purpose

 The sole purpose of this puja is to do away with ill effects and Vastu dosh. Through Bhoomi puja, we pray to Goddess Bhoomi and Vastu Purush to shower their blessings.

Sacred Direction

Bhoomi puja is performed in the North-East corner of the construction site. The North-East side is considered a sacred direction for performing Bhoomi Puja.

Procedure

Cleaning – One must thoroughly clean the construction site before the puja.

Pit – Then on the North East corner of the construction site you should dig a pit.

Ganesha Puja – The puja is performed by a specialized Pandit on an auspicious day and time. The owner sits facing the east direction. The idols of Ganesha, Goddess Laxmi and other deities are placed on the ground. Flowers, Prasad and other offerings are made to the deities while reciting the sacred Bhoomi Puja mantras. Performing the Ganesha puja is the most crucial and important part of the Bhoomi puja. Pandit also performs Devi puja, Shatkarma, pran pratistha, Manglik dravya sthapana after taking up the puja Sankalpa. The puja rituals also include placing silver idols of Nag and Nagin along with a coconut draped in red cloth inside the ground. The Bhoomi puja completes with a Havan.

Lemon – It is a ritual to place 5 lemons at the 4 corners of the construction site and crush them.
