Description
Purpose
People pray to Maa Saraswati on the Panchami tithi to grant them wisdom and knowledge. The Saraswati puja is a way to ask the goddess of knowledge to shower her blessings on your life. The sole purpose of the puja is to receive the enlightenment to achieve great success in your career. People on Basant Panchami wear a yellow dress and offer yellow flowers to Maa Saraswati. Small children are taught to write their first words on Basant Panchami.
Procedure
You can call a pandit to conduct the Saraswati puja in your place. The puja includes chanting of sacred mantras while offering prayers, flowers, Prashad, and clothes to the idol of Maa Saraswati. Pandit also asks the children to keep some of their books near the idol of Maa Saraswati to receive divine blessings. The puja concludes with Aarti and Havan.
